02 Tacoma double cab SAS
« on: Jul 27, 2008, 09:04:28 AM »
Here is an 02 Tacoma Double cab that we are getting read to finish.  We used a Dana44 from an 84 Wagoneer and 14" coilovers with a three link se like mine.  I really like the way it is turning out.  We will be putting a "Taco Box" in it as well.

I'll get more pics up later and a link to the whole build.

Here is a link to the rest of the pictures.

Thank you very much.  We really like how the double cabs end up with a tube bed.  They still have room for stuff and you don't have to worry about tearing up your bed side

Dans loked very much like yours before we cut it.  In fact he had the same ARB bumper on his.  now hes got one that is much lighter and much stronger.

Yours is looking good by the way.

Not worried about any hard hits offroad setting them off? I hate air bags (bad experience) but that is just me. Wouldn't want em to go off on the trail.

No, not worried about that.  I've been wheeling for years with air bags and never had a problem.

Nice truggy! This is the direction I'm heading with my 3rd gen x-tra cab, wish I could afford a dbl cab to start with.

What rear springs are on the truck?
Did you use weld in bungs on your links or direct thread them?
What joints did you use axle/frame side?
Did the fuel tank stay in the stock location?

Get to work on those bedsides.  i just did Sledge hammer last monday and if I had the bedsides on it would have been a disaster.

The springs in the rear are Deaver 62 inch springs.  They are very nice and this truck acually has more flex in the rear than mine does.
Te bungs are weld in bungs.  We used Johny Joints at both ends of the links, and the gas tank stayed right where it was stock.

nice work. so i have a question about the steering box. i was looking under the tacoma today in my driveway, (we just cut off the front end) and i saw how tight it was in between the frame rail and radiator to plate the inside of the frame and run a bolt through the nut. what are you guys doing. mine was JUST enough to have the bolt be flush with the nut on my 92 pickup, and it was pretty tight. any pics? im sure i can get it done on my own but your pictures and thoughts would be cool.
