fuel gauge problem_?

86 4runner efi my fuel gauge goes to max full. I know theres only 1/4 or less fuel in the tank. can anyone help me with a fix or what is making the problem?

So you're saying it doesn't move, even while burning throught a full tank?  I'd say sending unit or your float is stuck.

Drop the tank and pull the sender. Then run a resistance test on it. The test is outlined in the FSM.
