its a kickout meant to make the rock hit the tire instead of the sheetmetalwhat i wnat to know is why they are made of HREW instead of DOM considering this is a high stress part that may be supporting the truck either being stuck on a rock or trying to jack the truck up by them.....
I've always called them kickouts. Purpose is to "kick" your rear tire away from obsticles. I don't believe kickouts are good. (especially if they extend out further than the tire.) A. Would kick my tire off the line I picked. B. When sliding on my sliders, good chance of it stoppping my forward progress when the obstical hits the kickout. My obsticals are rocks. I can see an advantage for a kickout for trees, but in California, they don't let us within 20 yards of any trees. :O
Well up here in the Pacific Northwest the trees get real close to the truck. I guess they would be useful up here. Thanks guys.
whrre are you located in the northwest? im in vancouver washington
