what is the purpose of this rig? If it is long term camping (like week long or more) doved bobbed would be good. If it is just a trail truck, flatbed. I would not leave it as a long bed and only dove it, I would both bob and dove if I were to keep the bed.

I've bobbed every yota I've ever owned and the last two have been doved as well.  I have alwasy liked the dovetailed bed it lets the tailights las a lot longer on the trails.

I have a tube bed for it now thats already been set up with a tailgate and a sheet metaled in "bed" area so it'll still have function.   That's the downfall of al lot of tube beds I see, they just aren't functional.
Full hydro, 186:1 with an auto and 44's what could go wrong??

I think you should bob/dove the front and rear, and narrow the cab.

ya the bob and dove for sure...but the 1st. gen. cabs are to small to start with, so narrowing the cab would be way to small  :twocents:

sorry to go against everyones opinion but i say go flat bed, you aren't doing much with you bed. Just put detachable side rails on to stash your decoys and what not. then put a tool box on it. for what your doing it'll work. don't shorten the cab. you know that there is practically no room in your truck and your a bigger guy.
If you have to go "balls deep" you aren't doing it righ

How much money you throwing into this?

If you don't wish to spend alot of money..  Bob, or bob/dove.  Maybe ~100 bucks in consumables??  When you eventually destroy your bed from wheeling, Flat bed.

I spent a lot of time bobbing my bed only to bash up the rear corners nearly every time I go wheeling.  I wish I would have doved it too.

I like this idea.  Removable glass bedsides.

YOU ONLY NEED TWO TOOLS IN LIFE - WD-40 AND DUCT TAPE. IF IT DOESN'T MOVE
AND SHOULD, USE THE WD-40. IF IT SHOULDN'T MOVE AND DOES, USE THE DUCT TAPE.

IF YOU CAN'T FIX IT WITH A HAMMER, YOU HAVE AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM.

Im running a flatbed with 8 inch rails and a bed box. I love it. I can still fit as much as I could with a bed, its indestructible like one giant rockslider, and have way more visibility but thats just my  :twocents: youve prob already built it

I had a tube/flat bed on my 80 long bed and traded it out for a doved/bobbed box. Could haul anything on camping trips and was a pain to strap everything down. and IMO it looks alot better.
