First build, need help with suspension
« on: Apr 23, 2008, 06:07:36 PM »
ok, I have a 85 with a 4.3/700r4. Transfer case will probably ed up being a D300. Now.....The marlin super flex kit is awesome, but very pricey. I need highsteer etc and this kits seems to have all. The motor/tranny has ended up costing a lot more than  I thought so my funds are low. I would like to build the trcuk right, so my question is....Do I hit enter and order the fancy kit from marlin? or....Do I do the chevy spring thing?
I want good flex as I just sold my Jeep with a rubicon system....I need this thing to flex out!

My current springs are some very stiff sky jacker springs, previous owner, and they have to go. Possibly sell em cheap?

I appreciate the help, need all I can get.

I would do a set of 4inch marlin front springs and a set of chevy 63s in the rear and that setup should flex really well

The Marlin fronts are good. I'm gonna run a set of S-10 rears, I dont know how much it'll lift me so... And I hear dodge dakota springs and F150 springs flex good too.

ok, I need high steer, flip kit etc etc....So that kits looks awesome, but pricey. If I did go this route would this kit easily compare to the chevy setup?

Rears up front, high steer, u-bolt flips and either chevies (I HATE those rock anchors but they work if you have weight on them) or whatever else you can find that you like.  I have 52" chevies inboarded in the back of my truck and I love them.
Full hydro, 186:1 with an auto and 44's what could go wrong??

ok, I wish I had the stock rears. All 4 springs are stiff skyjacker lift springs.
So....Rears up front, chevys in rear Then pc together my hight steer, flip kit etc etc?

Personally I'd buy Marlin or sky's hi-steer kit and grab the u-bolt flips from datinfab.com  That would give you the absolute best bang for the buck that will last for a loooong time.  The hi-steer canbe had cheaper but its on a you get what you pay for basis. ;)

Marlin's high steer set up is really good, I would go with that. I run toyota rear springs up front and 63" chevy's in the rear with a drop shackle so I didn't have to move the shackle hanger, these springs work very well together and are inexpensive :twocents:
