Topic: Toyota UHaul trucks - parts compatibility

Me and a friend have been looking around junkyards for V6 4X4 IFS brake calipers to do the vented rotor swap on our solid axles. The only thing we've found so far is 2 UHaul trucks.

Will the calipers off these 1 ton trucks work the same? They are V6 trucks, but they are 2WD, but we figured since they are 1 ton trucks, they might be the same as the 4X4 ones.

Anyone know?

Nope the calipers are totally different between teh 2x's and 4x's.  But the rear axles are the shiat for using on a mini truck!  They are full floaters that use the same wheel bearings as a standard 4x front hub.  So all you have to do is swap the big 6 hubs out for some mini truck hubs and space the axle shaft about 3/4".  Then make a bracket to hold the caliper and there you have it a factory full floater rear.  Your 3rd will swap right into it too.

Thanks for the info.  Yeah, I knew those FF rears were cool, I just wasn't sure what you could do with them.

I checked, they want $500 for the rearend. The place is pretty cool though, so if you pulled it yourself and talked nice, you might could get it for $350-400. They have 2 complete trucks, and they have all 4 tires on them.

Those full float rears would be cool. Hopefully they arent going anywhere any time soon, couse I'm not really ready to get one. I still havent broke any of the ifs rear axles yet.  I'll try harder. 

I have a wheeling buddy who is a district manager for Oreilys. I can prolly get them calipers for cheaper through him if you want some reman calipers. I could exchange some calipers I have as the core, also. Let me know If I can help.
