Will the air locker in a jeep rubicon wrangler fit in any dana 44?

dont see why not. but i didnt think they were arb's. i thought they were jeeps attempt at an arb.

If it is the one that came stock in the early Rubicon's it is not an ARB.

Anyone else i need to know for sure, dont want to have to tear down an axle i i dont have to.

i know the early ones are not arbs they only use like 5 or 6 psi to lock unlike arbs which is 85-i think 110 psi

I don't think so...I remember reading something about the Rubicon 44 not being a "true" 44...I think the carrier bearings were different, and the axles.  I would try to find numbers on the bearings and see if they are the same. IIRC, it's a 35 with 44 outers maybe?

From what I have read the answer is no. Basically the housing is designed different and the locker is weak with bigger tires.

I asked on another BB and this is the answer I got;

"the case is different in the first generation rubi d44 compared to a real d44."

Most suggested ARB, some OX and Eaton E-locker.

OK, I got another answer. This one sounds like it came from a guy who knows what he is doing.

Yes you can use the locker out the rubi 44 for the traditional 44, We've done it a couple times at my shop.

The only thing different between the two is the rubi 44 has smaller axle tubes. Everything else should be the same
