ready to run crawl box on forward shift
« on: Apr 03, 2008, 07:24:20 PM »
I,d like to purchase a ready to run crawlbox for my truck from Marlin. So I am wondering if it,s worth it since I now have a forward shift setup. I would imagine that i would have to tear down the crawl box and install the top shift in the rear and my exsisting t-case in between the trans and newly modified crawl box. Is this correct? Is there an easier solution to this? Or do I have to find a used donor top shift and only buy the Marlin adapter. I guess either way it is the same pocess only if I purchase the ready to run crawl box I`ll have a rebuilt top shift t-case. What is everyone else doing out there with forward shift yotas doing to acheive dual t-cases please let me know.....thanks

buy the adapter and install on forward shift and find a good top shift to bolt behind it. (this is how i did mine)
or
buy ready to go crawl box set up for your model forward shift tranny and convert your forward shift to top shift.
or
buy ready to go crawl box set up for your model forward shift tranny and find a good top shift to put behind and sell your forward shift to somebody else.

You were confusing me, here is a diagram.

It should go:
----
     l----------                  -----                       ---------
                   l                  l      l                       l           l
                   l        +        l      l          +           l           l
                   l                  l      l                       l           l
     l----------                  -----                       ---------
----
Transmission;      Crawl Box (foward shift);   transfercase (top shift)

:beerchug: thanks for the quick info and ideas. I guess I should have just called marlin before asking these questions. I didn`t know they could build me a forward shift ready to run crawl box. So if that`s true I`ll just plan on making mine a top shift. I`ve already got an extra shifter handle but what else would I need.....Again thanks for your ideas.
