4 link or propane
« on: Mar 11, 2008, 09:01:06 PM »
Ok so I was (still maybe) planning to back 1/2 and link my truck.
Here is my problem, i found a propane kit (got propane kit) with (2) 10 gal tanks all hoses and brackets for 1k or best offer .
my carb does pretty good, but on steep angles...well it's a carb and stalls out.
my question is this...should i get the propane or do the 4 link? ionly have the cash for one or the other
my truck works well now with the leafs and i do need to spend a little cash if i am going to keep them (shackles and mounts about $100) so what do u guys think

propane or link it?

propane. love mine well worth it. just an fyi you can get a new kit (includes all hardware and tank brackets) from Cary (gotpropane) for less than the one you're looking at, I know that one has 2 tanks but you can find used ones for $25 (I did)

I myself buy mods on what will get me more places, and i guarantee a 4link will help u way more then propane. So it shud be an easy decision. Plus after u blow the 22r, itll be a prime candidate for a 22re swap, which is pretty easy from what i hear, then ull get more power then propane, plus itll run upside down. Only drawback is gas prices r goin up.

speaking as somone who has watched a efi rig roll...it won't run well upside down. the other thing is i have had problems with the carb on steep inclines cutting out.

lol, ive seen em run upside down, for a sec, and i know carbs cut out on steep inclines, but haiving ur tires planted better, will take u more places, then up hills, i think.

everything but tanks comes with the kit from gotpropane, and like I said you can find used ones for cheap. I got mine for $25. propane swap is a helluva lot easier and cheaper in the long run than an EFI swap. ANother thing to think about is linking up the rear of your truck will put you way over $1000, I just did mine and the coilovers alone were a grand then you've got another 5-600 in brackets, joints or rod ends tube adapters and big DOM for the links. If you're gettin it with leafs I'd run em for a while, make that you're next goal. :twocents:

If your truck won't stay running then links will be worthless. I vote EFI swap for around 200. Then links after.
