Snapping Valve Adjuster
« on: Feb 26, 2008, 07:06:44 AM »
So today my 22r stapped another valve adjuster.  I just went through a complete rebuild on it and it now has 600-700 miles on it.  Another one broke a few weeks ago.  I am not sure if maybe I am just over-torqueing them?  Is there actually a spec for this.  I have always just torqued them until it felt right and it has never been a problem before now.  I had also just adjusted the valves so there should not have been enough slop to cause them to snap.  The adjusters are replacements from engnbldr, and I also have a engnbldr 298C camshaft.  So overtorque, bad adjusters, or can a cam cause this?  :help:

Also, the adjsuters snap off right between the bottom of the nut and the top of the rocker.

Sounds to me like you a bit heavy handed with the wrench. They are a small fastener.

Unless the cam changed the angle that the adjuster is hitting the valve. But that usually causes them to snap off on the bottom of the rocker. Call Ted.
