CJ-5 1 ton
« on: Feb 18, 2008, 01:40:11 PM »
I currently have a 1958 CJ-5 with a 12 bolt lincoln locked, and a 10 bolt up front open; both with 5.38:1 gears.  It also has a Chevy 350 in it with an SM420, and Dana 300 t-case.  I got a good deal on a 1974 Blazer on 1 tons; Dana 60 front with ARB and 4.56:1 gears, and rear is a 14 bolt full floater with detroit and 4.56:1 gears.

I will be swapping axles and then also taking the winch and then attempting to sell the Blazer.

Here is what I am starting with:

Here is what I am getting the axles out of:

Here is the progress after tonight.  Now I need to sell some of the stuff I got off of it that is taking up space in my garage and then rip out my axles.

I will be going to PC probably Sunday and then dropping the jeep off to get the clutch done on Monday.  Once I get it back from the clutch being done I will swap in the new axles and get the drivelines made.

The 1 tons are in!!!  I need to dump those 37's!  I will soon be going with 42's with beadlocks.  Also during all of this the Dana 20 was yanked and replaced with a Dana 300 with an AA adapter.  The clutch looks good but the hydraulics might be messed up, we are just going to replace them.

I just need a D44 yoke and also a CV yoke for the Dana 300.

Sick man!! Looking real good Justin. Do you have better brakes now with the 1 tons? No issues with steering swapping axles?

So far it looks like I am hitting the Con July 4th weekend for sure with ROCKO and a few others. Prolly going to Fordyce before then but I just got a new job selling ammunition and I have to travel a lot and do gun shows on weekends. My life is crazy right now I have NO free time but I need to wheel! My 4runner is in the shop getting the rear tcase rebuilt but I should have it back Monday. Next weekend 28-30 I am doing my first gun show in Reno and after I have my tcase repair paid off, its lockers, onboard air and FORDYCE. I will keep you posted. Looking sick though man I cant wait to see it rollin on some 42s........ Please forgive my lack of commitment towards anything lately I just have NO time for anything!!!  :hammerhead:

Ok, well now to bring this thread back from the dead.  The jeep has gone through some major overhauls from Phil at SillyFab.

Everything from 42s, beadlocks, lowered, full hydro steering, 4 link front, 114" wheel base, tubed front, slanted hood, extended rear frame, cooler rack, cage tied into the frame, engine cage, black magic fan, 3.5 bronco coils , etc....

Also got a new driver...just for the day.
