22re swap
« on: Feb 08, 2008, 11:49:35 AM »
hey there guys ive been out of the marlin loop for about a year but i got a fresh engine for my truck only a year late but oh well. :beerchug:

its a 22re but i am still going to run my carb and intake because i only could afford the block and head. its all put together i just need to put my intake on it and put it into my truck.

I just want to know what if any frustations i will run into because of it being a r-e.
i know people do this all the time but is it the same as if it were just a 22r. my understanding is that the only difference is that its fuel injected.

Is it really that easy to swap them around?

Thanks mitchell

The block and the head are the same as far as I know. I just put a re head on my r block, intake bolts up the same. It just has idle issue now, but, i don't believe it is related to the head.
I'm not as good as I once was, but, I'm as good once as I ever was.

You might need to use your stock distributor and ignition since the RE model uses a different distributor and coil (from what I've read about the EFI conversion)
