Here's a couple of pics of some second gens,84-88.As I mentioned before,84 & 85 came standard with a solid axle and 86-88 were IFS.

These are 84-89 4 Runners,but are considered first gen Runners and were made up untill 89 even though the pick-ups were only made up untill '88 with that body style:

Good idea.Here's a picture of what is considered a second gen Runner,these were made from 90-95 and the majority are 4 doors but there IS some 2 doors but they're kinda rare.

Nope,the tops don't come off on any of the second gen Runners,90-95,2 or 4 door.

There is one vehicle that I left out and that's the Toyota Trekker (80-83?).Some people refer to THOSE as the first gen Runners but technicaly their not.Those are REALLY rare because there wasn't that many produced and those look almost identical to the first gen pick-ups but they are realy similar to the 4 Runners and the tops also come off on those.

81-83 had the normal latch. 79 and 80 had two latches, one on each side. come on infernal.
