I run 2-4lbs in my 38.5 SX's I usually use my 2.28 low range, (rear case in hi, front in low) and i like staying 3rd to 5th gear.... The 4.7s don't allow me to gain the needed momentum  ::) on a lot of the hills I climb in the snow...  If its a nice powdery snow its not unusual for me to be plowing the snow with my grille and hood... The only problem with this is I have to stop every once in a while to clean the packed snow out of the grille out so the truck wont get over heat... And it gets really hard to see with a constant snow wall being blown up and over your hood on the windshield! :eyebrow: I need to get some snow wipers for my grille!

OK having grown up in the mountains of Colorado and now in Minnesota, I'll tell you that my tire choice would vary greatly depending on the the kind of Snow cruise'in your looking to do.  Are you thinking of driving and trailing or are you thinking float on top and going  snowmobiling?

If your thinking of driving and trailing, go with something tall, fairly narrow and an agressive AT tread.  I really like General's AT2s for this duty.  Save them for Winter though it's the sharp edges that grab the snow (and ice).  Mudders with rounded edges from Summer wheelin' are near worthless in comparison.

If your talking about trying to floating on top, somebody with more experience will have to share.  I never had that much room or HP to play that game.

Lockers are fine in most snow but when it gets packed or icy, i'ts nice to have one foot solidly planted.  One of the new eLockers would have to be good for this.
