All true but....... For ease of installation, price, and DD driveability Downey is pretty good.

Marlin springs would not be my choice for any daily driven rig, they are too soft in my opinion.  My 4Runner on Alcans had less body roll without rear shocks installed than gotrocks 4Runner did with Marlin springs and shocks.

If you're considering Downey then there's no reason to not consider Superlift or Skyjacker.  I ran a Superlift 4.5 on my 85 and I don't believe my springs ever kept me from going anywhere.  The front springs worked extremely well, but the rear could be improved on easily.

Downey and Marlin are not really comparable products in my opinion.  Downy are much closer to stock design while the Marlin springs were intended primarily for off road use.

I run Alcan, but not everyone is willing to fork out the coin.

Too high for what?  How much lift do YOU want?  What size tires do you want to clear?  You should be able to clear 35-37 with their 4".

Go with the Marlins! I did the dance around trying to find some good springs and changed them and bought new ones 3 or 4 times. That was no fun, I have chevy 63 on the rear and marlins up front and love it. Next time I'm going with marlins front and rear tho. Oh yeah and go big or go home is my moto.

ruf and chevy 63's in the rear, add a leaf in the front and longer shackles. should get between 3 and 5 in of lift depending on shackle length and spring hanger length
