Just got back from the 'Con...
« on: May 30, 2004, 10:14:20 AM »
Just got back from the 'Con.  There were a LOT of rigs up there I'm guessing I saw about 500+.  I'd say about 1500-2000 people out there.  My rig ain't ready yet so I mobbed the beater Honda up there and camped just up the trailhead.  We walked in to Sluice and saw tons of rigs and people.  Couldn't get a good view of the Sluice they were just stacked up.

About 60 rigs were stacked up behind Walker Hill.  There was a Power Wagon blew up his front end and his motor was very tired holding up the line.  Anyone head up there?  I'd love to hear stories :beerchug:

We came back on Sunday, Just beat from wheelin all the way into Little Sluice on Saturday.  I think it took about 6 hours to get back in there, but well worth it. All except for the Lady that drove the buggy of into Little Sluice, that was terrible. Did anyone on the board know her ? Or how she is doin ? My wife and I talked to here about 10 minutes before it had happened, and them it happened right next to us.  We would just like to know how she is doin.  Well I got out of there with just a bent tie rod and good dent behind the passeger tail light. But nothin a ATV and a winch couldin't staighten good enough to make it home. Didn't take much pics but got a couple and a few of a VW Bug that made to Little sluice with just a little dent on the bottom drivers door. I will post soon

I talked to some buddies of mine that were up there and they said the party tended to die down into somberness on Saturday night after the accident.  I guess everyone thought she was gonna die.....well I heard from a few of the guys that knew her that she is doing okay and she is very lucky to escape with 6 broken ribs, concussion and a few minor other breaks and scratches.  I guess they thought that she had some liver damage but that's in the clear.
Thank God it wasn't worse....

I never saw the bug up there though :headshake:

Hey 84runner, your pictures go back in time! (are in reverse order)

Someone else posted some horrific info like that in another post I was reading and I did not believe him. Here's my question: Just what the hell happened that would cause that serious an injury? Was it a little girl? Did a rig land on top of her or something?? I guess the reason I am so skeptical is because I have never seen a serious injury of that magnitude since I've started wheeling back in 1984...

You've got it except for the buggy landed next to her...it didn't hit her...that's what my friend said who saw it.  She fell down the rock and I'm guessing it was the fall that did all the damage :headshake:

Shr hit her face on the roll cage.  The drop i think is about 30ft give or take.  The buggy landed and she landed under it.  The buggies engine was still running and it was still in gear and it wanted to keep going. Itonly went about 1foot before it hit another rig.  Thats y people thought it ran over her.  She was under it.

I saw a picture of it and there were no rigs around her and she was about 6 feet from the truck..... ??? (taken right after it happened)
