OMG...thats alot of shackle

how long is to long? i have bad axle wrap cuz of the blocks on my lift and was thinking of replacing the blocks with longer shackles . using 3/8 flat stock and boxing the middle going maybe 7-8" total (4" lift )

Better yet, drop that rear hanger..

My old confer shackles were pretty long though, possibly that long. Another options is to use an anti-wrap bar. If you can ditch the blocks do it though! Then worry about the height in other ways such as an add a leaf, different springs, or possibly a rear johnny joint welded to the frame as a rear hanger. That will drop it down and allow the spring to twist without destroying your bushings.

Making shackles is pretty easy though, go to the steel place and get some 2" x .5" flat stock. drill the holes and cut one. I use a big washer as a template for making it round by grinder or whatever. Then use that one as a template for the other 3.

an 8" shackle is not a 4" lift... you must realize a stock shackles is not 0"

for any longer than you go stock, half of that is lift.....

4" longer than stock length is a 2" lift... i think 2" lift shackles are a total of like 9" long or somewhere around that number

i understand that. the block in the back is not 4"s its only 3" i was just saying it has a 4" lift on it (front spring is 4 rear has 3" block) so if i went 7-8 it would/should make up the difference .

i lso thought about lowering the shackle mount and making new tabs dont to put to much into it cuz 4 linking the rear is next (springtime)
