I'm thinking its time for a Dual Transfercase
« on: May 06, 2004, 05:18:48 AM »
 8)  I have a 1984 Extra Cab 5 Speed. Transfer case shifter is on Drivers side of Tranny stick. I would obviously be better with the 23 spline strength.                         Can this be converted :dunno: The front Tansfercase is the High low shifter and I want a twinstick on the rear that will come up through the little catch all box in front of the flip up in the center consol. I also want the 4.70 gear set in one. I've read with the 4.70 gear set and 21 spline the $.70 must be in the rear transfer case. Is this right? Ok what all will I need to make it so captain :driving: Oh and by the way an 86 4runner EFI Transfercase shifter on the passenger side of 5 speed stick is it gear driven and is the tranny a w56?

Yes Marlin can covert a t-case to 23 spline, You have the right case in the front I believe,so all you need is the adapter and a gear driven T-case for the rear, just like the one that is in it now  And I think it's better to have the gears in the rear case, so you not sending that extra torq throuhg that other case when you don't need too.

I just put dual cases in my 84 extra cab.  the rear shifter wont come perfectly through the hole thing in the center console.  I had to move my center console back i think 2 or 3 inches for it to fit.  I also had to do some trimming on it to fit the front cases shifter (converted it to top shift).  I am loving it so far.

You can have a custom shifter bent so it will come through your console

Is it possible to fit a twin stick through that same Catch all junk box in the center console and what might need to be done to fit it :eyebrow:
