Military Stang could probably answer this better, but I remember it being near the end of basic. It was before we received our orders so I would guess 3/4 of the way through. Of the 5 or so that tried out from my flight, no one made the swim time. The TI and someone from the PJs pulled me aside to see if I would give it a try (maybe they were desperate, it was the cold war ) but I thought I was going to be an ATC.  Maybe that is why they made me a cop.

Swim, swim and then swim some more. The run will be easy but you will be out of the water for at least a month before the PJ test.

i aint in the army though baconator. while i was there at meps i asked about trying out for the pj's and they said it has changed. i have to arrange for a tryout before i start basic, supposedly they dont ask during basic anymore.

The Army offered me a free pair of tube socks to join.

So when can you tryout? It must be during basic, otherwise the Air Force would have to bring people to Texas just to swim? Ask Military Stang to check for you. I wouldn't trust the recruiter.

As far as i can remember, they don't ask during basic if anyone want's to try out for PJ's.... but i do remember them asking if anyone wanted to be a Combat Tech, or something like that.... had one dude try out for it and make it... he already has 4 KIA's under his belt and a whole lot more unconfermed (SP) KIA's....

I really don't know what to tell you Red, other than make sure it's in your contract. Oh, and don't let the Recruiter tell you that you cannot get out after MEPS, cause you can, you can walk away up till you get on the plane for basic.....

ya the recruiter told me that i have up until the day i leave for basic to back out (if i chose to) with no problems. will find out sometime this week when i leave for basic!

anyone else in the air force?

looking for advice or anything... here is the deal, i have already sworn in in meps, but dont have a ship date for basic yet....

i have reviewed a list of the jobs i can get with my physical....

basically, i have crappy, but liveable eyesight..... and failed depth perception... ok knocked me out of firefighting (which i was going for, but can crosstrain later) and i can have my eyes worked on later as part of my medical

anyways, they said most likely they are putting me in as mechanical aptitude area, which means ship out asap, and then chose a job after basic from the current job drop, before it gets dropped to everyone else.....

i got a 63 on the asvab

line scores of 55 administrative, 91 mechanical, 72 general, 72 electrical
