Another T-case Question
« on: Aug 13, 2007, 11:25:07 AM »
Well i just had my first run out with my 4runner since i finished all the work (5 inch marlin kit front and reat, IFS box, cross over steering, 5.29's, detroit locker's f/r, marlin's dual t-case adapter with the 10 degree clock, IFS rear axle, front range t-case mount for rotated t-case and skid, 4x innovations front winch bumper and lots of spray paint). I will get some pic's for ya'all later.

So, here is my question.  I was having trouble at times shifting the rear case from 4wd back into 2wd.  I felt that the t-case was getting warm to the touch ( i filled up the 2 cases with a total of 3 qts of gear oil) so i know there was enough oil in there.  It was always fine going from high to low, but would be fickle about the 4 to 2.  i never had a problem shifting from 2wd to 4wd.  Now when i am messing with it in the driveway, i can not get the problem to happen again, so i am wondering if it had something to do with heating up (has anyone else felt their t-case to see if they got warm after a good trail run?

Thanks for the help,
Cheers,

Jay

Oh, and the 4runner went everywhere!  She out wheeled my old zuki hands down, and i know that b/c i was running with the guy who bought it from me, and he didnt make it up all the stuff that i did!  I love my yota!  (oh yea, and she had to pull out a hummer, true it was an h3, but she pulled it out (pics to come)

No problem, just put in reverse and dis-engage.
Common problem, it's called driveline bind.

This will work.  :yesnod:

I've also found that if you rock the steering side to side while at a slow roll it will also unbind the drive lines and allow the shift. Guess it depends on the circumstances for the ability to do either.  :beerchug:
