Nah, but it's basically 1/4" steel welded to the hanger... I got as much coverage as possible, I think. and I know I got good penetration.

I may take the clevis off and clean it up a little better, and if I do I'll try to snap a picture.
personally i wouldnt use anything less than 3/4" ....on mine i plan on using 1" thick

OK, use single low and a telephone pole. :gap:
Try to rip it off before you write it off is all I am getting at.  See if it will hold up.

if it is welded good then it should hold.  you would be surprised what 1/4 inch steel can hold up too.

alright, should have this all buttoned up. 2.5" reciever tubing frenched into the hanger, and then the whole front got plated.

Went wheelin' yesterday... only picture I have.

For the most part the truck did great, but for some reason my starter decided to quit working and I had to do about half of the trail without killing it... I only killed it twice. I definately need some diff armor, a locker, and lower gears. And whenever I can afford it, bigger tires

On the run we had an '80's Datsun that was linked, 60's front and rear, 37's, etc, a 4-door jeep (cj-10) on a chevy frame, that third gen runner that was IFS, locked in the rear, and rollin' on 33's. It was pretty fun, and I managed to keep up with the runner the whole way.

Well... I been sortin' out some problems. I got a new battery that fits, new battery cables, new spark plug wires (which helped a lot), changed the oil, put a hole in the radiator, got it rebuilt, and... that's about where I'm at. I dented the :pokinit: out of the front housing on the cabin canyon run, so I got some diff armour for the front. Still need to bob the bed, build some sliders and bumpers, and fix my square drive-shaft.

As of now it's a big time irrigation rig at work, tryin' to save up money for a 4.70 transfercase gear set, and if i have enough I might take advantage of the sale on diff gear sets. 2 5.29 gear sets and set up kits for $499.

That's all for now.

So my clutch is pretty much fucked. What's better, the semi-metallic, or ceramic clutches?

The ceramic clutches are supposed to handle heat and heavy use better,  But i dont know if their good for trail use, I dont know why they wouldnt but I havent heard one way or the other..

After doin' a bit of searching, the ceramic clutches are "grabby", and "more like an on and off switch".

I actually like the sound of that...

Well I put the Super Heavy Duty Ceramic clutch in, and have been abusing it for a week or two, it should hold up real good, and it's not that bad to wheel with.

I've mostly just been tryin' to put some hours in at work so I can get some gears and a locker, but now that I've got to where I actually have time to work, there's nothin' for me to do.

Here's a couple of pictures from earlier today. Nothin' special, but I'm excited about having real pictures again.

There's really only a couple things I need to get done, and then it'll be on. I need a skidplate for my tranny, and lower transfercase gears.

Then I'm gonna go roll it off a cliff.

At least yours is wheelable right now...   Do you plan on making half doors or tube doors?  Or just keep it the way it is?

Yeah, it's better than nothin' I guess. I made some half doors for it, but they're not quite finished. and now it's too cold to drive on the road with them.

Oh, I figured it would be a good idea to check the compression yesterday, and then that broke off the the fourth (and last) cylinder.

Hopefully we'll get it fixed tomorrow.

I love this build.  The 2wd was made way sweeter!

Gears and a locker make for better wheelin that for sure!
I got a lockright and its great/affordable.
