wheels
« on: Jul 18, 2007, 12:39:24 AM »
Alright, where can I find some cheap steel wheels, 15x10, with less than 4" of backspacing (around 2 or 2.5 would be best)  Do they even exist without having some custom made?

Summit and jegs both have 4" backspacing though....Maybe I will just look into spacers, since I heard having that little backspacing can really strain your wheel bearings.  Only thing is I know that 2" wheel spacers aren't the best to run either...even though itll probably be cheaper in the long run.

It really doesn't matter whether you get the 2" bs wheels or the wheel spacers. either way, the center of your tire would be in the same place relative to the bearings, placing them under the same extra stress. I would get the wheels and be done with it, just to eliminate the extra link to have to check on a regular basis. lug nuts only are easy to check.
It ain't worth doin' if you don't have to clean up afterwards!

Build it, break it, fix it, repeat until your wallet is empty.

Actually the 2 and 2.5 backspacing is harder on your bearings......with the 4 inch your tire turns more on the center point of the knuckle....where the others you get alot more tire scrub during the turn

Go to Americas Tire Co. They want $40 a piece for like 3.75" bs but if you add like $15 a wheel they can get you "reversed wheels" which will be like a 2.5"-2.75" bs. They say it will take like a month or so to get because they have to special order them.
