Does someone make a front receiver hitch for an 86?   (I've never seen a front for an 86.....)

http://www.realtruck.com/productline/269/138/1/snowsport_class_3_front_mount_2_receiver_hitch.html

follow that link go down to where it says import and they have it. seems a little pricey. you can probably find it cheaper but this shows it and gives you a starting point. hope that helps

but does the winch-plate slide into a receiver?

I want to be able to move the winch to the rear when necessary.  (and leave it off the truck in the city)

no it does not it is attached underneath the plate. so u are looking for a hitch for a multi mount winch correct?  look at big rocks off road

"The Toyota 4Runner/Truck Type2 Winch Bumper is built on the Type1 Front Bumper base with a receiver tube and gussets welded into the center of the upper main tube to create a MultiMount Winch or Recovery point. This allows you to move your winch form front to rear or even store it when not needed. This setup allows for maximum flexibility "

Yep.   want the receiver just under stock front bumper in the gap between the front bumper and front frame cross-member

it really seems that a custom fab is going to be the only way to go. Can you post a picture of your front end? so we can see what type of bumper is on there now and how much room you have to work with. remember money and imagination are your only limiting factors. if it something that you plan on hooking the winch to and using for actual recovery or pulls. make sure who ever does it has the skills. this is not a project for someone to do on the cheap so they can get some time in on their welder. you would hate to see the winch go zinging by.make sure they use a few bolts to the frame also that way you are not purely on weld.you can pick up some 2" receiver tubing and go from thereagain this is just a thought

If this is the actual warn mount for a toyota

http://www.car-stuff.com/cspmmp/toyota/pick_up/winch_mount.html

it would really kill your approach angle.   :shake_head:

Call hidden hitch. I know the one i got for my old f250 did exactly what you want. it was just under the stock bumper hardly noticeable and didn't need much modification. it is prbably alot like the warn
