check engine light woes!
« on: Jun 04, 2007, 05:09:44 PM »
Ok, so I kept getting a check engine light on and off on my new 92 3.0.  Well, now its staying on.  I pulled the codes and got 21... o2 sensor, no big deal, however the second code on it was 14.
IGNITION SIGNAL--NO "IGF" SIGNAL TO ECU

--IGNITER/IGNITER CIRCUIT

--IGNITER AND IGNITION COIL/CIRCUIT

--ECU

What do I look for in that?  The truck runs like a top! so it doesn't make sence that the igniter is messed up. Also I just replaced my spark plug wires, could that have somthing to do with it.  I have checked for shorts in the wires, and have found nothing. anyhelp is awsome!

Pull the main EFI fuse in the engine bay fuse box (big silver thing)  for about 5 minutes.  This will reset your system, and if it is running like a top, eliminate the 14 code (or both if you've already replaced the 02 sensor)  I've had mine come on after doing a cap/rotor, and plug wire swap. The differences in resistance can cause the computer to misread some signals for some reason :dunno:

I'm having the same problem. Mine runs like a top under power, but as soon as it drops down to idle; all hell breaks loose. The engine starts to load up and the idle speed drops. Check engine light comes on until I give it gas and clean out the engine at higher revs. It's EFI.

hey would a bad 02 cause low oil pressure at idle and even make it sputter, or not want to go when you give it gas..going slowly or even stall?
