i'm looking to get my 22re rebuilt after blown head gasket.what's a reasonable amount to pay for a shop to do it? thanks for the opinions.

that really depends.....


call around local shops near you.....

things vary in price drastically by location and who you go to.....

if I wanted LC Engineering to rebuild my motor versus the performance shop down the street type of thing..... Talk to customers of machine shops, they usually will honestly tell you if the work was good or bad and what kind of service they provide

yeah, but if you can pull it yourself (not that hard, just a little work)  and deliver it, then pick it up and reinstall yourself, you can knock off several hundred $$ that way.  Where are you at?  Depending on where you are, bet some members on here can give you a good place or two to check out.

Well now you're talking! 

Give Ram auto in West Sac a call.  Brandon here on the board sent me to them, and they rebuilt my heads for me for $250 out the door (3.0) 2 years ago.  I'll get the name of the guy brandon referred me to, he's an old guy and only works part time.  He walked me through everything they were going to do, explained the whats/whys of everything.  The turnaround was great too.  The heads were in the shop for 2 days total.  Dropped them on on a monday afternoon, and picked them up wed afternoon
