'96 Dodge Caravan Spark Plugs
« on: Apr 26, 2007, 07:40:31 AM »
Does anybody know an easy way to change the plugs on a 96 Dodge Grand Caravan.  My dad is too lazy to do it so he is having me do it.  The engine is mounted sideways and the back 3 plugs are along the firewall and they are really hard to get to....any help would be apriciated!

what kind of extentions are needed?  I want to make sure I don't need a swivel socket or anything special b4 I start on it.

Sweet, I'd copy and paste, but the format it is in won't even allow me to highlight the text :disturbed:

Alot of times you will have to unbolt the motor mount and rock the motor forward!  This is what the mech had to do to mine!

Yeah if I couldn't get in far enough to reach the plugs I was going to try something like that.  I will try ur method if I have to.

The plugs weren't really that bad.  Of course the front 3 were no problem and the driver side and middle rear plugs really weren't too bad if you come in from the bottom.  the passenger side rear was the one that gave us a little trouble, but it really wasn't that bad once we removed 3 bolts from the alternator brackets and just pivoted it.  You do not have to remove the serpentine belt or anything like that, just pivot the bracket.  and it works really nice to have 2 guys working on it, that's the way i did it and it took us about 1 hr. to 1.5 hrs.
