I should add that when we bought our surfacer in 1992, Marlin began experimenting with different cutting depths, and found out that the factory recommending stepping of 0.020" is actually a conservative number, and that it can be surfaced to almost 0.030" before the clutch no longer engages.
So we always resurfaced our flywheels to 0.026" which has worked perfectly!
This special cut depth is a trademark feature of Marlin Crawler, and allows the clamping force of the clutch to remain high for many more miles.
