4Runner vs. Tacoma t-case

I was just informed that the 3rd gen 4Runner and Tacoma t-cases are different...  given the same engine and same tranny, different t-case???   :yikes: ???.  True or false?

I don't care if you laugh with me or at me, just laugh!!!

'97 4Runner, SAS'ed, cstm cougarfreak exo n traction bar,  YJ rears military wrapped w/ waggy main in front, Chevy 63's rear, King res. shocks & air bumps, Detroit locked D60 35sp chromo rear, '81 Waggy front D44 , chromo n superjoints, 35" BFG mud KM, Marlin 2.28 dual, twinned

It has been confirmed by Ballistic Fabrication, and the impression of many other that the Tacoma and 4Runner of the same drivetrain do in fact have the same t-case. :clap: :clap2: :clap:  Pinion e-brake...  here I come!!!!   :beerchug:I'll post how I route the cable and any mods I do when I complete it. :snapshot: :thumbsup:

Yes, all 1996-2004 Tacoma and 4Runner Transfercases are the same, as far as function and internals go.

As for a comparison with the older 1988-95 V6 t/case, a while back, Marlin spoke to the person who redesigned the VF t/case and learned that the chain was widened and also features an increased number of links.
