http://www.wildyoats.com/canvas_top_tech.htm
i think that this is the guide he based it off of, but then made some of his own modifications to it
hope that helps
and again thanks for all the ideas everyone

one more thing
what are some good seats for a decent price maybe nothing over 125 apiece

Could be :dunno:  I was thinking they're 31"s.  I'm just guaging by the lift (or lack of) it looks to me like a torsion bar crank, and thats about it.

Engine performance - cam and a header.

Will end up about $350 total, but probably the best and easiest mods for noticeable power. I have an EngnBlder cam and a Doug Thorley header, and I like them both a lot.

They're not that common, but they're out there. I almost bought an automatic first gen when I was looking for my truck.

Don't pay $99 for H4 conversion headlights, when you can get the same thing from JC Whitney for $40. They are awesome to have...the old sealed beams are lousy compared to modern composite headlights. Much better lighting at night...instead of two yellow spots with some weak sidespill, you get nice white light in front and to the side, uniform coverage with no bright/ dark spots.

those head lights will work on a 1986 toyota right
i am just about to order them and wanna make sure that they will fit
i hvae rectengular lights so i think they will

Thanks!

Hey i pretty much got the idea for that soft top from this web site http://www.wildyoats.com/ just go to the tech section an click on 4runner canvas top.  if you want some pics pm me and ill send them to you

Yeah, man, they'll fit...most older vehicle headlights are a couple standard sizes. Just measure your Toyota headlights to reassure yourself...

It's the best headlight mod i know of. Using an 1157 socket and bulb to move the turn signals into the side marker lenses, so they work as both side marker lights and turn signals is also a good one. Most aftermarket bumpers don't have a place for the turn signals, and this mod makes them more visible from the side as well.

Hey, sorry about the wrong info...i was planning on putting them on my trucks but haven't gotten that far yet.

I really hate advising you like that, they sounded like good replacements. Maybe the other $99 ones actually fit.

If you have to pay return shipping, i'll reimburse you for that, cause it's my bad advice that led you to make the order. I hate misleading people.
