camera's for wheelin???
« on: Apr 09, 2007, 11:00:13 PM »
what do you guys/gals bring when you go wheelin?  I always bring a disposable camera because of the harsh conditions, and you can get the pics on disk.  There are people out there that bring there nice camera's and video and I am wondering if they are crazy bringing that expensive equipment out on the trail?   I got a half way decent digi cam and am wondering if I should take it with me?  If so do you guys put them in plastic bags or how do you take care of them?  Thanks

I have a Dimage Z6 digital camera i take wheelin i just keep it in the case unless im taking pics that way the dust doesn't get in the camera. If it does by chance i take it to best buy and they clean it.

I've taken my digi cam hunting, fishing, wheelin and hiking for years with no issues just yet.  I do put it in a ziplock baggie though, just incase.

I've got a little $300 Kodak POS that I bring on the trail, along with my Sony DV video camera.

If the Mrs. is going then she brings the Canon EOS Rebel with the dual battery pack, sigma 300mm lens, sigma 35-90mm lens, sigma 8mm 180* fisheye, a 1GB memory card, and 2 512MB memory cards.

Never say that, even with 2 cameras we won't catch all the pictures.

I would just bring disposables.. with digitals you can't catch that split second that the disposable can.. even though they're not that awsome quality, they're better to catch the second rather than clicking the camera and having to wait 3+ seconds :headscratch:

Not all cameras do that.  My  HP digital camera (RIP :smack: )  was great for quick shots, and its a lot easier to do stuff with.  Ironically, it didn't break on the trail, I broke it at home.  I'm actually looking for pretty much the exact same camera.  I had a kodak digital, and that thing was a piece of crap.  The HP was much better, and still pretty cheap.

What wait time? My Canon has a 1/1000th of a second wait time if that is what you mean.

With high end digital cameras, especailly SLR, there is no wait time.

I've got a little $300 Kodak POS that I bring on the trail, along with my Sony DV video camera.

Which model?  I have a kodak dx6340 that I've been very impressed with, and any time I've sent a pic to somebody in full size they've been very surprised by the clarity, even with my crankfiendish shaky hands :shudder:

I thought I found a free kodak leaving work recently, but it turned out to be an empty case
