83' pitman arm ball
« on: Mar 31, 2007, 09:00:14 AM »
hey i was cuttin off the old drag link on my truck to put in my new one and i messed up :smack: i usually use a small oxy and acytlene torch but it was out so i was usin my dads propane and oxy and its bigger, but it was goin good till i slipped and took some metal off the ball at the bottom of the pittman arm. I was wondering where i could find a new little ball or if there was anyway i could fix it. If anyone has one i would be interested!

Thanks!
Dan

Just for kicks the last time I was at the dealer I asked if he could give me a price on a birfield. And he had no clue what I was talking about. I said you know the part of the axle shaft, He was still dumbfounded I got a kick out of it. And told him he needs to know what a birfield is to work in a toyota parts department.

haha, "whats a birf"... thats a keeper. I would have brought the driver side in and beat him over the head with it. I bet if you said it's like a CV he would be like. "ohhhh".

ya they had no clue. i personally dislike dealers A LOT. the same toyota dealer had a 84' pickup that was lifted with 40's and a chevy 350 that someguy traded in and i just happend to see it towering over all the other cars there so i stoped to look at it and told em i was interested and salesman said he would call me the next day when the papers went through. guess what, i never got a call.

Yea, dealer parts guys are funny that way. If you go with a part number to give them you can get them to help you. I guess they like people who do there work for them.
