Rolling truck
« on: Mar 12, 2007, 09:45:22 PM »
Over the weekend a good friend of mine rolled his 90 yota 4x4 single cab on a dirt airstrip at Lake Pillsbury near ukiah, ca.  He was going around 40 and decided it would be cool to try and get the truck to do a donut or slide sideways or something.  Going 40 his whips it to the side and hits a pothole, and rolled the truck 2 1/2 times.  He and the passenger had a seatbelt on, luckily and no body got hurt...except the truck.  Cab is totally crushed and so is the hood and front fenders..the bed is fine.
In the next 24 hours some guys he knows were in a 4runner and they turned onto the same airstrip my friend rolled his truck.  They decided to spin a donut going 35mph and rolled the truck onto the passenger side.  The drivers cousin (front passenger) wasnt wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the cab and got the truck rolled over on him.  He suffered major head trauma and died on the way to the hospital in a friends vehicle.  The driver and other 2 passengers were not hurt except for minor injuries.  The driver of the 4runner was 19 and under the influence of alcohol, and I would imagine everyone else was too.  He is being charged with man slaughter, DUI, and being charged for drinking when hes only 19.  Also they are trying to figure out who bought the alcohol for him and they are gonna get in trouble too.

Ill post a link to the article if anyone wants to read it but thats pretty much the whole story.  http://www1.pressdemocrat.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20070312/NEWS/703120305/1033/NEWS01

The "friends" they are talking about are all my buddies that I would have been there with if I didnt have to work that day.

People shouldnt do such stupid things.  Maybe reading this will make some careless people more cautious.

thats no good. I'm sorry for what happened to your friend, and his truck. i personally hate seatbelts. when i was younger i was in a pretty serious accident and not wearing a seat belt actually saved my life.  probably not the best time to ask but would they want to sell the rolled third gen?

Bummer man! I was in a hellacious rollover in s van with my buddy who decided to jump a bridge on a gravel road at 75 mph.... driver wasnt wearing a seatbelt and me and the two in the back were.... we rolled 6 times and landed back on the wheels..... buddy was lying about 45 feet behind where the van rolled over him..... he is now paralyzed!!! High speed and inability to think and perform rational decisions are a bad mix!!!!! all i got was a a piece of glas in my hand and a broken nose from the airbag.....  needless to say, i dont enjoy riding really with anybody unless i am driving!!! sorry about your friend man!!!!

my friend is fine he suffered no injuries. the passenger is fine too. he bought a honda prelude within 24 hours of rolling his truck.....it seems like he couldnt wait to get out of a truck and into a car. he didnt know squat about cars though...he hardly deserves to drive a toyota. he takes his truck into a shop to get his brakes and oil changed......................i need not say anything else about his lack of brainpower and willpower to learn a simple task.

i know the only thing i could think of was what a waste of a perfectly good truck. ran perfect with flowmaster and k&n and 2 inch body lift 33s i think it had like 120K on it even. mostly stock though. he wouldnt even sell me his tool box! he gave that away with the truck. right about now somebody is tearing the body off and making a buggy out of it i can almost guarantee

oh well.
