I have an 88 2wd 22re. 5 speed conversion. I have a thorley header and 2.25 pipe. recently I have been losing power it seems. I cut out some on steep inclines I have tried to lean up the mixture but it didnt help. could I have a vacumm leak, or something or is my motor about to crap out. It smokes on start up for about 30 secs. I have been fouling plugs in my 2nd and 4th cyl. any help is great.

check your plug wires

i have the same problem you had but i already swapped my wiring and my plugs... it still smokes but when i warm the car up until the meter gets to about warm then if i turn the car off then back on it purrs... if i dont let it warm up it kinda studders and pumps out black smoke...

if i could get some more help on that it would be great thanks...
