Motor Mystery?
« on: Feb 13, 2007, 10:13:30 PM »
So i just put power steering in my truck last week prior to this the truck ran very well, the day after i got the ps finished i went to test it out. Ran well for about an hour then just died. I checked everything spark, fuel, air, getting all three elements. Towed it home and then it ran fine for about ten min and died like someone shut the key off. Thought it was the coil so i put a new one in. Didn't fix the problem, thought it was the fuel filter wasn't the problem, thought it was the grounds tightened them wasn't the problem, checked the fuses, wasn't them either, put a new fuel filter on still no go. I am flat tired of this motor and it's problems. Can any one help me. I desperate ill will try anything aside from buying another motor.

I used to own a 4runner, sold it and then took a friend over there and he bought it, so i ended up working on it yet again. The guy i sold it to had smashed the two wires that go from the distributor to the ignitor between the power steering pump bracket and the head...sometimes it shorted and ran like crap...make sure that isn't your problem. Make sure the connectors on the ignitor and coil are tight, make sure your spark plug wires haven't gotten brittle from laying on the exhaust manifold.

wires are new, and wires are clear of the pump bracket, the wires on the coil are tight just put a new coil on.
