1990 W56 w/ forward shift and dual cases..
« on: Feb 04, 2007, 10:08:18 PM »
Does anyone know if the shifter spacing is the same using that set up as the earlier model W56 and top shift duals?
I blew my 86 trans and have a 90 w56 with the forward shift case sitting here, just contemplating taking the time to take apart my adapter and applying it the newer goods, or selling this newer trans and case and finding a decent early model trans.

Thanks,
Jamin

i dont think it is.. the forward shift has the t case shifter further forward then the top shift but the rear case should be in the same spot

Yeah I didn't even consider a difference in driveshaft lengths.. I'll double check that though.
flop, seems like a pain in the ass.. I was hoping just to unbolt the crawler in tact and bolt it on the new trans... but no dice
I guess.

drivelines will be the same length. the cases should just bolt up to the tranny pull the tcase shifter out of the shifter base and make a cover for it it or cut off the shifter.

The trans and tcase will be the same nose to tale. But it will move the shifter closer to the dash and you will have to cut the floorbord. But if you have duals the floorbord is cut already.
