4.3 vortec its Alive!!

  putting the finishing touches on a 01' 4.3 vortec conversion into 84 toy. Used factory chevy harness &  steering column & completely eliminated toyota harness!! got machine started now have to hook up charcoal can & o2 harness and build custom airbox . Am i the first nut to do this without using conversion harness?

Probobly not the first, deffinately not gonna be the last.  I was talking to a buddy of mine today, were going to go pick up a '02 4.3 so I can put it in his 84.  Im sure Ill have plenty of Q's for ya once the stupidity starts.   :ack:Thanx in advance.

your gonna need the helms service manuals from the donor vehicle too! hopefully u can get complete harness & column?
 I paid 830$ for complete motor and harness ,column and instrument cluster from wrecking yard in L.A.

  I will post some pics as soon as I get the cord for camera

He said he paid $1000 for the wiring harness, computer, custom chip, engine and trans.  Everything Ill need to do the swap.  Oh yea it has 16000 miles on it!

Just keep your eyes peeled youll find one soon enough.  Just remember chev 2 wheel drove trucks that have NO options are everywhere!  A old boss of mine picked up a 93 2x for $300.  It had a sweet running 4.3, it just needed a trans.

I bought mine from Westway   auto salvage in gardena CA. they only deal in newer vehicles though. year 2000 and up. I bought a complete 4.3 w/ 10000 miles on it for under 900$ w/ ccomplete harness(motor & body),steering column.
 If you want to keep it simple on the wiring stick to the TBI 4.3's
and not the SFI motors
Check out ebay and like WT said 4.3 fullsize chevys are a dime a dozen.

Thanks WT! and one good hint on cleanin grease off (if you already didn't know) OVEN CLEANER!!! It works wonders .IF you leave it on too long it can take the paint off! but with a little scrubber & a can of EZ OFF you can make any thing look new 8)

HMMMMM! dunno !   still gotta hook up charcoal can & secure a few wires and get the relay block that controls electric smog pump            Also looking for a set of good 35" radial mudders
    When I get it closer I'll have to find a friendly ref.

I'm using a toyota v6 radiator with a modified tank. The tans is a r152 5.15 first gear to a ultimate t-case. Just waiting for the wire harness and exhaust.
