to build or not to build( a tacoma around 97' vintage
« on: Jan 20, 2007, 05:07:48 AM »
Hey all,
im have been kicking the idea of building a tacoma when I get home( im currantly working over seas). What I what to do is get a 97 tacoma and do a solid axle swap, dual transfer cases and the 3 link from all pro, if it will be fesable. if not just go with leaf springs.
I whant to have the 2.7 moter so im gonna have to start out with a 4 wheel drive model and a manual trans. but as far as the rest of the rig im gonna have to piece together.
Is the tranny and rearend same on all models, or do they change when it comes to different engine sizes.well thats enough questions for now, any responds would be greatly appreciated.
Missing my 67 Bronco( retired money pit king... ok,I got tired of working on it)
05 powerstroke crewcab,chip, exhaust, 4" lift, 35s(tow rig)
77 ford 1 ton shortbox standard cab.(moneypit #1)
05 M7 snowmobile(money pit #2)
04 banshee ( money pit # 3)

thats the perfect setup right there. You want to get the TRD package cause it had an electric locker in the rear. MOst people still run tacoma rears with chevy springs
Everyone starts off in life crawling but lots of us grow up and still are crawling around everywhere
