installing an auto meter temp gauge.... should i use???
« on: Jan 13, 2007, 08:58:27 AM »
truck info - 87 4Runner 22RE

should i use the stock sending unit or get another auto meter temp sending unit?? i dont have the auto meter sending unit that usually comes with the gauges. i have heard that the stock ones on the trucks work just as well tho im not sure. im wondering if it will read wrong on the gauge? or should i just go buy a new auto meter temp sender and not screw with it? thanks.

In order for your autometer to read correctly you need to also use the autometer sender.

Here is a picture of my Autometers in my 82

I have no doubt that an Autometer guage will read with a Toyota sender. It may be fairly accurate as Kyota points out. I for the sake of wanting to be sure would recommend a matching sender.

3/8" pipe thread is supposed to "work well". It's not the intended thread (not metric) but close enough.
