Damn - I should have sent you a gallon of Super Clean and a handful of parts cleaning brushes.  That thing is disgusting!

:shhh:  I think it's going to get a steam cleaning along with the engine bay, that's assuming the boss will still let me bring home the steam cleaner   Should get a new coat of blue paint too.

Did some minor cleaning tonight after work.  Already looks way better!  Hopefully I'll get time to get on it with a brush this weekend and clean it better, remove all brackets to clean and paint, pull the pan to clean and paint, replace the front main seal and ad a dab of white paint to the main pulley so I can see the timing mark.

Well, I don't want to play the blame game, but SOMEBODY hasn't touched it since :shake:  I hope to get the block cleaned the rest of the way tomorrow, pull the pan to clean and paint it and install the new pan gasket, then paint the block.

I'm really hoping kiyul doesn't give goose his marlin fronts so I can snag them :crossed:  If I do I should be able to mix them up a little lower than 4" lift and hopefully they'll be level with the f150s.  Otherwise I'll be going ruf.

I'm hoping to snag a set of 4.88 thirds from toyoder soon too, then I can get set up for bigger tires.  Not totally sure if I want to run my 35s or look for a used set of 33s.

So that same slacker didn't work on the truck this weekend :shake: , but his back was killing him yesterday and he had to strip and cut up a truck today.  I do have a nice set of rears to mix up for the front though, came off the truck I was stripping.  With only 76k miles on them the bushings are in really good shape, totally reusable.

I'm still leaning toward keeping the lift mild and running 33s on this one.

:yesnod:  87 2wd, but it was mostly a rolling chassis.  I WAS planning on cutting up my 86 4by too, but I got a day late start cause of my back (then messed it up again yesterday and am missing work today.....well, not really missing it...) and am reluctant to cut up a whole truck after seeing how long it took for just the frame.

No plans to bob the bed yet, specially with the way my boat fits in it.

Yea, I still have the bed and I'll sell it cheap  http://board.marlincrawler.com/index.php?topic=32399.0

Is your buddy still interested in the bed?  I'm close to getting rid of the rest of the truck as it sits or cutting up everything so I can move another project truck in.

Alright.  I'm heading to town now and won't be back in time to cut it up so he's probably safe till next weekend.

Got just a little bit of progress made tonight.  Scraped the majority of that grease and grime off the engine with the possum watching me the whole time again.  I have a lot to do this weekend, but I'm hoping to atleast get the block cleaned the rest of the way by the weekend and hopefully slap some paint on it.

Also pulled most the brackets and stuff to take in to work to clean before painting them.  Should be pretty basic and bland, similar shade of blue (gm blue) block with black brackets.  I thought about going with yellow brackets/pulleys, but I'm not so sure about that yet.

  Eewwww...no way!  Brackets and pulleys are not the sexy parts of an engine and do not need to be highlighted.

Pink it is :haha:  No, all the brackets and pulleys will be shot in black.

Did about 4 hours of cleaning and it's pretty much done well enough for me.  I'll probably clean the pan a little more before shooting it, but it's pretty much ready to shoot in my eyes.  Masking is gonna be a pregnant dog though.  Tranny looks pretty clean, so hopefully I can get it cleaned up and ready for paint while the engine is drying tomorrow.

Pay no nevermind to the still greasy water pump.  It will be changed out before the engine goes in the truck.
