well ive been chiseling, sanding, grinding, shoveling, hammering, cussing at this damn tile ive almost got it ready to start putting the wood down, home depot came today to measure for my new carpet! holla..  the homeowners that did the tile put hardibacker down over mortar from old tile so now ive ripped the backerboard up and am getting rid of all the backerboard and grinding down all the mortar because the wood will defenitly be nasty to do with a uneven floor. headed to home depot now to get thin set to cover the mortar in the front room with so i dont have to take it off.. its getting carpet so it doesnt have to be perfect... pictures will follow!  unc that was nice of you guys to buy her a new washer!mwm it looks great marks a real handyman, i wish i could slow "it" down to where i could last even 30 seconds..  =(

I don't like Plasma, sure they have an excellent picture but they are very costly and cannot be run i direct sunlight. Plus they have to be recharged all the time. My brother in law bought one a little over a year ago and had to recently get it recharged and it's not cheap to get that done.

this is what the entire living room and kitchen looked like after the tiles came up.. no wonder it was uneven.. and to make matters worse there is more mortar under the backerboard??? they told me there was real hardwood down before so these DO IT YOURSELFERS put mud backerboard more mud... oh yea did i mention they left all the staples from the wood for me to pull after the backerboard came up!!!   :hammerhead: i almost went bonkers.. took me 5 days to do this crap..

Eat your heart out Bob Villa!

this whole room will be covered with a self leveling thin set tomorrow i dont have the guts to tear it all out when there will only be carpet going over it.. but the entryway by the door will be hard wood too! just out to the corner of the closet!!!!

you need to rent that air jackhammer thing that Mark used in our bathroom. It made a mess but was sure easier and faster then doing it all by hand.
I think there might be a picture of him with it in the beginning of the thread.

So not nearly as drastic a mod as redoing an entire floor or tiling in a *BLING-BLING* plasma, I finally got around to tuning up the laundry room.

I built a drawer unit (using full extension ball bearing glides) below the dryer to ease the back pains of getting the clothes out, and add a little more storage. I tore out the crappy wire shelves and added a cabinet and shelves instead. Now I've gotta get some paint in there and put some finishing touches, but overall I added ALOT more useable space, and while not Martha Stewart approve, it functions just fine.
