I ordered a rebuild kit from Marlin and he didn't have all the synchros in stock. He was right, they are all in great shape, but since I'm in here I think I will fix everything that's not broken.
My truck was built in 96/04, and they apparently changed the design of the 1/2 hub and the 2 synchro around this time. Does anyone know the difference between the two versions? Are they interchangeable? Toyota EPC is not sure, and gives me both versions of both parts. All I know is the 96/04 revision synchro was revised again in 98/01.
I notice the 3 and 4 synchros were also updated, and I like the improvement made to the front countershaft bearing. I wonder if this is where my noise was coming from - I couldn't hear it when operating the transmission by hand.
