Toyota Transfer Cases
« on: Feb 02, 2004, 02:05:28 PM »
I seem to have a problem with Toyota transfer cases breaking in half. The last one even had a case saver on it I picked up from Over The Hill 4X4 a while back. I'm running a 350 and NV4500 in my 76 FJ40 and 35'' tires, locked front and rear. I would welcome any suggestions.

The newer t-case is always the strongest, with the 78-80 being the best 1" center pin t-case. Toyota also made a 34 mm center pin one peice case for South America, however, that is also obsolete. :(
Danny Warden made a bilite aluminun case ($1349.00), He is no longer in business.
I looked into making a billite case, but, with my new manager, we have gotten very busy and I have not had the time to finish the project!
AA is planning to sell a cast iron case with a 4 to 1 gear set for some time now.

Make sure that there is at least a 5 inch lb preload on the output shaft. I fell that a loose output shaft only helps break cases :help:
