Topic: Finally ordered my parts

I finally ordered my front diff today, I ordered 4.88's with a spool because it was cheaper and I figured it was stronger than anything else. I also ordered wheel bearing kits for both sides. I'm hoping to get everything by the middle of next week and have it all put in by the end of the week. Then it's test time. It's only been 6 months since I took it apart, I hope I remember how it all goes back together, I won't remember how to drive it.

Don't forget to take spare birfs.  I did the same till I went with a hi-pin front and detroit.  LOVE IT.  Just wheel it.

i am pretty sure he said he has longfields in a previous thread.  what did you have in the front end before?  did you break something?

I had a quick lock and genuine gears up front and they couldn't take the abuse, so I'm upgrading to a spool and yukons. If these can't take it either then it's time for 60/14 bolt. I already blew up the rear about a month before the front did almost the same thing.

I'm not too worried about the 30-splines breaking, just the knuckles and the ring and pinion.
