Taco Tranny for 7M-GTE Swap?
« on: Jan 27, 2004, 08:53:30 PM »
Anybody know any reason why a Taco tranny (1996+ R150F) would not work behind a 7M-GTE using the Supra R154 bellhousing ?   Input shaft length is nearly the same as the R154 and the spline is the same , right?

I believe there is a Marlin Crawler t-case adapter to get a gear type t-case onto the back of the Taco tranny.

The clutch disk is the same 29 spline and the input should work along with the orginal pilot bearing. :beerchug:
I have been selling the billite Tacoma to gear driven t-case adapter for three years now.

Isn't there a 1/4 inch difference in the input shaft lenght?  There's a post around here that give the input lenghts. I think the '96 and up R150 is longer that the Turbo Supra R154.

Not to get this post off topic, but about how much hp/tq can the taco tranny hold?  This would definitely be a sweet setup if you could put it behind a built 7mgte pushing 400-450hp considering that can be cheaply and easily accomplished!

I have never worked on or have had a 7M-GTE trans in my shop :(
If the truck is around the factory weight, The R150F should take the power if driven decent.

I've got a 400 7MGTE, and there was NOTHING cheap or easy about it.  But I've got one helluva fast 3rd Generation Supra...
