finished the frame notch today today and finish welded and painted the panhard.  After that I went to install one of the heims on the panhard and it wouldnt go in and is now stuck in there a little ways, gonna try freezeing it tomorrow or else I might just run it how it is

bummer dude.  you should make some sheet metal spacers to throw in with the joint when you are welding up the mount, that way there is some play in there so you can get the joint in and out, but not enough that the bolt wont clamp the joint.

no its the treads all fagged off, all the brackets are spot on.  the heim went in a ways and got hard and I gave it another turn.  after that it wouldnt come out with a 5' piece of tube on a cresent wrench.  :pokinit: is super tight

I do but not with me I left the camera in my runner.  I was missing the days of forging shoes so I cut the plate to 17" long with pointed ends and forged it all around with 4 bends so that it is one piece capping the whole hole and extending down the frame on both sides.  It is made of 3/16 diamond plate

very nice. . . . .i used the torch tonight.  welded up my truss fully on the 14b, it started to cool and let out some seriously spine chilling pops as the whole weld along the cast on both sides let loose.  so i ground it all out and heated the flopp out of it and burned it in again. . . .still cooling.  im almost sure the form a gasket didnt fair so well on the cover though.  thinking ill trade it out for a fab one before hammers.

when do you think itll be wheelable?

got inspired by all the snow talk the last few days and then getting denied by a nasty hill climb in my runner yesterday and busted out a :pokinit: ton of work today.   got one more piece to cut out and weld in and I think she should be a driver once I put it all back together.

Sluice Box Hero

how about March 7th run.  that will give me time to make sure nothing is going to let loose and my rear and maybe dial it in.

"Later, I learned that even though I engage 4WD my hubs are not automatically locking? Something about manual locking hubs I think. What's manual mean? I need to read a manual to lock them? lol  So I found these neat autolocking hubs and installed them. Sometimes they dont stay locked while I am backing up, but that's fine because I dont have a backup camera to see where Im going (like our RV) so I just simply dont ever back up"- BigMike

TIMS89CRAWLER

hate it when that happens! that :pokinit: hurts and the grinder always wins

Hyena

your shirt get tangled up in it?  hate it when it tangles up in your shirt with your hand on the button and can't turn it off.

Ramrod

ya I had just drank a monster and like three glasses of wine and was grinding on a link and went to hit up the top side and the cord got stuck on something and the grinder kinda got pulled out of my hand and fell into my shirt and tore the flopp out of it but it was a millwakee with the paddle grip kinda switch so it shut off pretty fast

that happened to me at school and it tore a pocket out of my leathers on the inside... sucked

a kid in out class sliced his nipple open with his 4.5" and then a few days later shattered a 9" cut off disk grinding out a root... there have been a few close calls with grinders in that class

Ramrod

Just put my 4runner for sale on here, scope it out if you want to see this thing wheel before November

Ramrod

cracked down on the truck today and got it pretty much done besides bump stops.  I fucked with the heim stuck in my panhard for  a while and ended up actually snapping it off in the link so I ground down the end and welded on a polyeurothane bushing instead.  doing this made my panhard a little too short though so im going to have to make a whole new setup when I come up with some money

Ramrod

made a fresh driveline with some .120 wall from my old rear shaft and a nice 85 cv for the snow and standard wheeling, angle is nice!
link mount on the frame is gusseted pretty heavily, there is also  1" bolt going through the whole frame and that bracket tightend up and welded in

Ramrod

the driveline only extends .5" from rideheight to full droop
