I have an 84 pickup with an 86 22re block(carbuerated)
installed Doug Thorley headers about a year ago, and with that came an egr leak through the gasket where my egr piping bolts to the headers (the bracket near the front of the engine). I dealt with it this whole time and last weekend replaced my head gasket, and in doing so reinstalled the headers with fresh gaskets and all. I used some silicone gasket sealer for the egr to the header gaskets but not for the exhaust gaskets. Fired her up, and yet again, same egr leak. I don't think its affecting performance, but I can hear the engine firing quite a bit louder than I think I should be able to. While shes running, if I put my hand right over the leak you can just feel some hot air coming out, and visually there is mild carbon buildup on the gasket. Can I shove some silicone gasket maker in there in an attempt to clog it? and is this a regularily occuring problem with headers? Thanks for the help
