electrical issues major
« on: Sep 04, 2006, 07:28:36 PM »
so earlier today my truck was running just fine.  i disconnect the battery to weld on my truck and now i have absolutely no power in my truck.  battery is fine i have power to my auxillary fan and all my rock light just not to the truck itself.  is there a main fuse somewhere i could have blown. i looked in my fsm and it tells me jack. where i was welding was on the back of the truck and i had the ground lead about 12 inches from where i was welding.  please help i don't want to miss the roudup because of this
by the way it is an 83 with the stock motor.  only thing that is not stock is the coil but it was running with it earlier                                    thanks justin

Have a look in the black box on the left side of the engine bays.  Those big fuses in there are the fusible links.  They control the whole shabang, if you blew the black one the trucky no start.  Check all other fuses and see if any of your grounds have come undone.  Also, check your starter and make sure both leads are plugged in, sometimes mine will jimmy its way free.

Nope, thats the voltage regulator.  follow the pos wire from the battery.  The big one goes down to the starter, and a smaller one goes to the fuse/relay box right behind the battery.

You don't have the black box with the green writing?

Hey CTENG in KS, the reason why the dude doesn't have the fuse box in his 83 is cause ur engine is a later model. There is only a fuse boxe in the cab on 83's  :slap:
