High-steer question
« on: Jan 14, 2004, 01:27:44 PM »
Ok, I'm doing a SAS on the runner, what i want to know is with approx. no drop in the hanger, maybe like 1/2" or little more, rears springs up front, will the high-steer have clearance issue.

On PirateBB one guy say that it may come in contact with the frame an the other say it don't, now I want to make it clear. :headscratch:

I don't know specifically in your case, but i do know that you can gain some clearance by rotating the steering box, but that depends on if you're moving it in the first place, shouldn't be too hard to clamp it in place and see.

Using rear springs up front will move your axle forward ~2", so you will have to relocate the box. I too have rears up front and moved the box as far forward as possible, even cutting into the body mount.

You may also have to clock it somewhat so the drivers side spring doesn't hit the pittman arm under full compression, yet not too much that it hits the underside of the frame when turning.

C-clamp it in place and double check everything first.

Be sure to add some reinforcement plating under the box on both sides of the frame.
