Power Steering parts...
« on: Jan 07, 2004, 08:45:22 AM »
I need to replace Pwr Steering parts on a 1985 sr5 22RE F.I. truck.  I have parts on a 1987 Carbuerated 22R w/IFS.  Are any of these parts interchangable, maybe with that adapter that Marlin sells for the steering box mount?

thanks,

Jason

The EFI Pump has a vaccume dohicky on it  :headscratch:- mounting bracket may be different?!?  :headscratch:IFS gear box is best but you'll need Marlins frame strengthening kit  :flamer:and you'll need to convert to cross over steering - which will require taller leaf springs for clearance :hammer: :eyebrow:

All EFI trucks have a high pressure vacume switch mounted on the p/s pump to prevent the engine from stalling out and sending a shot of raw fuel to the catalytic converter when the wheels are pegged. This could damage the emission system. Other than that minor change, all other parts will work. :ladys-man:
Pump, brackets, crank pulley, hoses, cooler, and resevoir will all work. A box mounting kit will be required to use the IFS box.
Yes Toyoballs, high steer will be required if the IFS box is used. :smack:
