front drive help

hey guys or galls
a friend  just bot a 80 Toyota truck with a 4in lift and 33in tire and the front drive shaft is making some funny sounds come from the c.v. joint  is rubbing & bottom of the shaft keeps hitting please help me

Sounds like the CV is shot. Mine did that and it exploded for the most part. It moved around so much that it actually broke off one of the fins on the transmission.

most 80's didn't come with a cv style front shaft. When I first lifted my 80 with the stock shaft I had the same problem of the angle being to much for the yolk of the shaft to clear the u-joint during rotation. So I kinda got a thump thump sound.  I clearanced it with a die grinder so it would operate at the steeper angle, but eventually just replaced it with a cv style shaft.

my 79 came witha cv shaft :dunno:

the cv can be rebuilt parts are about $50   if you can change a ujoint you can rebuild it yourself

most likely  its the 4 inch lift,  get yourself some dual cases  and your driveshaft angles will be fixed
